som∂lchemy movement

offers safe and effective exercise fused with a hearty dose of fun. Typically done barefooted, it is designed to increase our awareness of our mind-body connection, develop our “body literacy” and can be a catalyst for change.

I’m passionate about using movement and music as a tool for exploration. Facilitating Som∂lchemy experiences reinforces my belief that we can find a sense of wholeness, dynamic ease, relaxation and joyfulness when we move and dance together. Our movement community has fun enjoying a mix of forms and music for a playful, grounded, expressive, embodied and effervescent movement class!

I love your class. The only way I can describe it is “JOYFUL”. It’s such a lovely way to move.
Great class today. You’re experience and intuition around movement and pace was really nice. Thanks for creating space for people to be true to themselves too, because it makes it safer to be free and also allow for real healing and joy!
Erin gracefully, engagingly, and enthusiastically guides people to move their bodies.

Erin and Sarah in Chacala, Mexico

Selfistry (https://selfistry.com), a self-discovery system for personal development I’ve been exploring for several years with its originator, Sarah Marshank, includes a somatic practice I particularly love. Its name—still.being.moved—references the three opportunities (represented as spaces) offered within the experience: meditation, cultivation of a witness observer, and freeform movement.

The experience begins with a brief orientation to the practice. Over the next 50 minutes, music supports our choices as we interact with each space as inspired.

In the stillness space (still), we sit, connect perhaps outside ourselves, “meditate”, tap into our sense of “source” or simply be.

In the witness space (being), we observe ourselves and each other without judgment or interpretation.

In the movement space (moved), anything goes. The invitation is to move, sense “who” is here in the dance, play and explore; you may sway, sit, rock, crawl, roll around on the floor. Just know anything goes!

Simple. No expectations. Stay in each realm as long or short as you like. Juicy beyond words.

Our practice ends with an optional circle, where we are invited to respond to the question “What did you notice?” Our words are held in respect and confidence.
