therapeutic massage

Ms. Damour (LMT #7494) is a graduate of, and former instructor at, the NM School of Natural Therapeutics in Albuquerque, NM.

I work with those committed to prioritizing self-care and aim to collaborate with folks looking for relaxation and pain reduction. I bring a gentle intuitive approach to each session, which is customized to meet your specific needs. Evidence-informed outcomes of therapeutic massage may include an increased sense of well-being and relaxation, stress reduction and pain management alongside functional/mobility improvement.

My practice is open to referral clients only.

Massage and Covid

Therapeutic massage is a close-contact healthcare interaction requiring important ethical and safety considerations. In my practice/shared suite, we follow Covid-safe mitigation practices and all governmental mandates including guidelines of our professional organization (ABMP) and the CDC – remaining flexible as things evolve. Face-to-face close contact is by nature a risk for any infectious or respiratory illness. Carefully consider the risks to yourself, family, colleagues, workplace and (y)our community before choosing to receive therapeutic massage.

Face Coverings

PREFERRED IN COMMON SPACES, OPTIONAL IN MY TREATMENT ROOM: Test positivity rates and hospitalizations are always changing. An indoor masking request remains in effect amongst my colleagues in our shared space (halls, bathrooms, waiting areas, session rooms). I still often wear a face coverings.

Vaccination

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: All clients are strongly encouraged, though not required, to be vaccinated against SARS-COV 2. Your therapist is fully vaccinated.

Mitigation of Infectious Disease

Cancel your appointment if you have a known exposure to an infectious illness or someone with Covid, are recovering from Covid or have new unexplained fatigue or bruising. Massage is always contraindicated if you are feeling ill. Rebook or plan to schedule when you are symptom free for 10 days.

Universal Precautions

Per usual, we continue all universal precautions: thorough hand-washing, use of HEPA air purifiers, improved ventilation, hot water laundering, disinfecting surface areas with EPA approved disinfectant such as isopropyl alcohol and Rejuvenate, routine cleaning of the office and vaccination.

Unless requested, I do not use gloves (there is not sufficient evidence they protect against respiratory infections). Gloves are best for intra-oral work, open wounds, removing used linens and using cleaning products. I have disposable gloves stocked should you prefer I use them.
